Artist Statement
My work is a documentation of dreams…a journey through the subconscious in the attempt to understand the thoughts, feelings, and memories that subliminally affect our lives … A revelation of the mind ..unveiling who I am, who I was, and who I want to be. These are my deepest thoughts, darkest secrets, and most sacred dreams.
When I paint I fall into an unconscious or dream like state. Like dreams my paintings are unpredictable. As I begin nothing is ever clear to me, I never know where I will start or where I will end up. Nothing is planned out, which gives me the freedom to reach into my subconscious and paint what ever it is that may be affecting me at the time. Art is my therapy, and the acrylic and canvas are my therapists, helping me understand and document my voyage through the mind.
Through my paintings I am able to bring my subconscious to life. Visually I allow you to step into my mind and experience my journey, but give you the freedom to make your own discoveries and analysis of what it all really means. - DA PAZ -
